about

The new single, performed with Dutch singer-songwriter Yori Swart, marks the beginning of a new musical chapter for Will Knox, with a new album set for release in the coming year.

"I was still living in London when I wrote Waterfall with Simon Lewis about 3 years ago. We were in a windowless studio and felt inspired to write about escapism. The song is about what music (for example) does to me, separating yourself from the real world and finding somewhere safe where it can’t reach you. It’s supposed to feel like a dream.

Originally I sang it on my own, but the meaning of the song has evolved over time and I wanted to introduce another voice. I’ve been a fan of Yori’s for a long time, and we had recently covered Leonard Cohen’s ‘So Long, Marianne’ together for a Dutch TV show ‘De Wereld Draait Door’. The stars aligned and I’m really glad Yori wanted to be a part of the song, I can’t hear it any other way now."

lyrics

Turn your science into fiction
Call it magic you're thinking
Keep your wondering, keep your wishing
Trust the tall trees will listen
Dip your toes into the water
A little deeper than you ought to
I will catch you in the fallout
If you ignore the voices calling out your name

It’s better that they don’t know darling
It’s better where they don’t quite see
Hide behind the waterfall and
Save a little part for me

Cut the cables strip the wires
Disconnected we’ll go higher
In the wilderness we’re nameless
Pixels in a crowd of faces

It’s better where they don’t know darling
It’s better where they don’t quite see
Hide behind the waterfall and
Save a little part for me

I wanna go higher
Than the elevator
I wanna see brighter
Where nothing can be seen
And everything is

Better where they don’t know darling
It’s better where they don’t quite see
Hide behind the waterfall and
Save a little part for me
